A Guide To What You Can Donate For Charity Collection

Not sure what you can donate? Here's the full guide to what Bag2Charity accepts, from clothes and shoes to bric-a-brac and beyond.

What Can You Donate to Bag2Charity?

One of the most common questions we get asked is simple: what can I actually put in my donation bag? The good news is that Bag2Charity accepts a wide range of items, far more than most people realise. This guide covers everything you need to know before your free doorstep collection.

Clothing We Accept

We accept good condition adult clothing, children's clothing, and baby clothes. This includes everyday items like tops, t-shirts, shirts, blouses, jumpers, knitwear, hoodies, sweatshirts, trousers, jeans, skirts, dresses, shorts, leggings, and jackets. We also accept coats, winter coats, raincoats, and outerwear of all kinds.

Occasionwear is welcome too, including formal dresses, suits, blazers, and smart clothing. Maternity clothing, plus size clothing, and vintage clothing in good condition are all accepted.

Baby grows, baby clothing sets, and toddler clothing are always in demand and very welcome.

The key rule for all clothing donations is that items must be clean, dry, and in good condition. We cannot accept clothing that is wet, damp, dirty, heavily worn, or has bad odours.

Shoes and Footwear

We accept all types of footwear in good, wearable condition. This includes trainers, running shoes, casual shoes, formal shoes, boots, ankle boots, knee-high boots, sandals, heels, wedges, and flat shoes. Children's shoes and baby shoes are also welcome.

Shoes should be paired and in reasonable condition. Heavily worn or damaged footwear cannot be accepted.

Clothing Accessories and Bags

Alongside clothing and footwear, we accept a wide range of accessories. Handbags, shoulder bags, clutch bags, tote bags, and backpacks are all welcome. Belts, scarves, hats, caps, gloves, and jewellery can also be included in your donation bag.

Bras in good condition are accepted. This is something many people overlook, but bras in wearable condition have real value and are gratefully received.

Household Textiles

We accept a range of household textiles alongside clothing. Curtains in good condition, towels, and bed linen including sheets, pillowcases, and duvet covers are all welcome.

Please note that we cannot accept duvets, pillows, cushions, heavy blankets, throws, or sleeping bags. Curtains that are excessively heavy may also be declined.

Bric-a-Brac and Household Items

Bag2Charity also accepts a wide range of bric-a-brac and household goods. Items we welcome include antiques, ornaments, clocks, kitchenware, utensils, books, toys, sports equipment, tools, and musical instruments.

All items should be in good working condition and packed securely. Fragile items must be wrapped to prevent damage in transit. Loose items cannot be accepted.

We cannot accept furniture or anything larger than a microwave, CDs, or DVDs.

What We Cannot Accept

To keep our service running smoothly and ensure donations have real value, there are some items we are unable to collect. These include socks, underwear, dressing gowns, and pyjamas unless they are new and unused. School uniforms, work uniforms, corporate clothing, workwear, personalised clothing, and event clothing such as branded t-shirts or fancy dress cannot be accepted.

Clothing with animal hair, strong odours, or visible damage will also be declined. If in doubt, ask yourself whether you would be happy to give the item to a friend. If the answer is yes, it is almost certainly fine to donate.
